Dear Watch Member,
Please be aware of the following phone scam which happened yesterday at a location in Buckinghamshire. This could also happen in Hertfordshire which is why I am making you aware of the incident. An elderly victim received a telephone call from a man who said he was from her bank. He informed the victim that the bank had noticed a problem with her bank card. He then told the victim he was sending someone to her home to collect her bank card from her and give her a replacement card. Soon afterwards a man arrived at the victim’s door asking for her card. She handed it over and received a replacement ‘Bank Card’, in its place. It looked genuine and was embossed with her name, however it was a forged card. Later the victim became suspicious and contacted her bank about the incident. It was then discovered that the stolen card had been used 3 times yesterday at a post office in London, where substantial amounts of cash were withdrawn
Banks or Police will never ask you for your card or your bank details.
