Dear Watch Member,
These are all fairly basic, common sense tips for securing your home (or business) but are worth remembering - and doing!
- Ensure ground floor windows and doors are locked when you go out or to bed
- UPVC doors can only be locked by lifting the handle then turning the key
- Keep keys out of sight – not displayed on windowsills etc.
- Timer switches should be used to turn lights on at dusk to give the impression someone is at home.
- Exterior security lights are very effective deterrent
- Don’t keep large amounts of cash at home
- Download tracking software to your mobile devices
This list is obviously not exhaustive but may give you a little “nudge” as a reminder
If you see any suspicious behaviour please report it to the police – call 101 for non-emergency and 999 if you witness a crime in progress.
You can also can crimestoppers (anonymously) on 0800.555111
